FRIENDS' FUNDS AT WORK
The HBFOL provided gifts for local winners of the 2015 L.A. County Bookmark Contest. Samantha Lemmer, Dean Stasso, and Clara Mangali were finalists in their age groups; honorable mention awards went to Elena West, Luke Finigan, Brooke Uehlinger, Gabriella Cantu, Viveca Henry, and Adrian Abraham. FOL President Howard Seeb and Acting County Library Manager Mercedes Santos joined the winners at the City Council meeting on February 23, where they were presented with certificates by Mayor Carolyn Petty. The Friends have also given the library $1,500 so far this year for adult and children's books and will provide $2,100 to fund entertainment for the 2016 Children's Summer Reading Program, which runs from June 24 through August 12. Flyers for this and other Friends sponsored events are available inside the library.

THE NEXT HERMOSA BEACH FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, AT 2:30 P.M. IN ROOM 4 OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER. THE FINAL 2016 MEETING, INCLUDING ELECTION OF OFFICERS, WILL BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 16.
